Kingdom Law II-208
- There shall exist within the Kingdom of Meridies an Order to which the Sovereign and the Consort may elect those persons who have exemplified and futhered the art of soldiering, and who have shown outstanding skill upon the field of war, and who have imparted those skills to others by teaching and training, and who consistently display leadership courtesy and chivalry in an exemplary manner, above and beyond that normally expected of the subjects of Meridies. This Order shall be known as the Order of the Legio Ursi or Legion of the Bear, herein referred to as the Order.
- Members of the Order shall be entitled to place after their names the intials M.L.U. and shall be styled in procession as Milites of the Legio Ursi, or Members of the Legion of the Bear.
- The Order shall carry with it an Award of Arms and shall process ahead of the Baronial Awards of Arms.
- Election/Election Proclaimed
- The power of election into the Order shall rest solely with the Sovereign and the Constort of Meridies, although the Companions of the Order have the right of consultaion and recommendation directly to the Crown.
- The election into the Order shall require and Oath signed by the Sovereign, Consort, and recipient. The recipient should sign this Oath when the Oath is taken. The Oath shall read
- "I shall and for as long as I remain a soldier of Meridies, defend the Crown and Kingdom and serve within the Legion of the Bear, pledging the safety of the Crown and Heirs with this my sworn Oath"
- The election of Companions shall be publicly proclaimed in the Presence of the Crown or Their representative and shall be announed in the pertinent publications of the Society for Creative Anachronism, Inc.
- Members
- Members of the Order will be styled as honorary members and be released from their oath upon their residence changing to places outside Meridies.
- Members of the Order who are elevated to Chivalric patent shall be styled as honorary members and shall no longer participate in the consulting of the Order.
- The Principal of the Order shall be an active Member of the Order who first recieved the Order and shall be styled as Primus Pilus.
- The Order shall hold meetings of it's members upon any occation not limited to the whim of the Crown.
